About the owners
Tim and Jenny Heaney Owners of Seniors Helping Seniors Guildford Woking and Godalming
Tim and Jenny Heaney own and manage Seniors Helping Seniors Guildford, Godalming and Woking having bought the business from Andy Boothman. Tim was working with Seniors Helping Seniors as a carer when, as the saying goes, he ‘loved the services so much, he bought the company!’
Tim and Jenny have lived in Woking for 23 years.
Prior to Seniors Helping Seniors Tim had an exciting career in international retail with luxury brands and he loved the customer service of premium brands. Tim’s experience in the Care Sector followed a period of family caregiving and volunteering for Oxfam.
Providing care and support as a trained carer has given Tim deep understanding of the needs of the elderly in their own home. Recognising the synergy of offering a client-first approach in the care industry, he said “the approach Seniors Helping Seniors has to both carers and the service it offers to clients, stood head and shoulders above anything else I have ever seen.” Jenny taught in primary schools for thirty years. Jenny makes a vital contribution to the business.
An avid Brighton supporter, Tim loves football, he also enjoys cycling, golf and history. Jenny enjoys swimming, theatre, piano, and abstract art. Tim and Jenny love exploring new places and taking long walks together as well as daily strolls around the lake in Goldsworth Park which is where they live and brought up their two amazing children.
What inspired you to take over Seniors Helping Seniors elderly home care in Guildford, Godalming and Woking
The key driver to own a Seniors Helping Seniors franchise is the opportunity to work for themselves, whilst helping others at the same time. The couple were inspired by the passion and expertise of the head franchise owners in the UK, Christian and Sally Wilse.
Passionate about people being able to stay in their own homes and the ethos of providing personalised care, Tim already knows many of the carers, clients and customers and he has worked with the care manager, Rachel, for two years. “Tim says the team is amazing and the potential to help more families and offer more jobs to extraordinary people in the area thrills me – I have an opportunity to pool all my experience for a worthwhile business.”
Jenny shares, “Tim has been a great advert for Seniors Helping Seniors. He shares the joy of being a carer; he really enjoys the variety of support he provides through the week and making a difference to a client’s day. It was not a surprise when Tim suggested the idea of owning his own Seniors Helping Seniors business and it was certainly one that I knew I could support and encourage. Meeting individual needs and providing outstanding personalised support are common to both care and teaching.”
How do you believe Seniors Helping Seniors is different from the other area services?
Seniors Helping Seniors is unique because it matches seniors who need assistance and care, with seniors who want to help.
We match people who have professional experience or ‘lived experience’ of care with likeminded clients. We can do this because we have an abundance of amazing carers working with us.
The organisation works incredibly hard to ensure carers want to join the team, so it was no surprise when Seniors Helping Seniors won the Living Wage Foundation’s Champion award for the Care Sector. Tim explains that “as a working carer, I felt the importance of that award.” Matching carers to clients is vital and often leads to rewarding relationships. The care we offer is also delivered in an unhurried way. Peer-to-peer assistance allows seniors in need to receive care from someone who they can trust and relate to. Championing our client first approach business-wise is also vital because families need to budget for long term support. Our approach to business is exemplified in our Good Business Charter and S.A.F.E. care kite marks as well as outstanding reviews from customers. Seniors Helping Seniors has been caring in this way for over twenty years and the organisation is privately owned by the people who started it. Tim says, “I have seen how much the guiding principles of a business matters to clients and Jenny and I are here to ensure the flexible care people want is provided.”

"We have been using the services of Seniors Helping Seniors for over 4 years and have been really pleased with the care and attention the team have always given to Mum. Nothing has ever been too much trouble and the team have often gone above and beyond to ensure that Mum was comfortable in her own home for as long as possible.
They often shared lots of laughs and fun times as well as caring for her emotional and physical needs and it always left us reassured that she was in the best of hands.
They are a very flexible team and always willing to help out when additional support was required putting the needs of Mum first. A special thanks to Eileen and Simone who have been on the journey with Mum and become more than a companion to her, they have become good friends. A very caring exceptional company. "

"Our Mum is suffering from severe dementia and although we take on a lot of the care ourselves, we needed some extra help in the afternoons. The care from SHS has been outstanding. All the carers have been great with Mum, taking her for a drive, a cup of tea and a piece of cake when able which is her favourite thing to do.
We have received photo’s of Mum from the carers of Mum while she is out and she always looks so happy. She can’t wait to go with them! Teresa provided Mum with a photo book at Christmas – such a lovely thing to do and Mum treasures this. Tina has been great also - always there to help co-ordinate and offer support.
We really cannot fault the care received. We know Mum is in safe hands and Dad can have a rest while she is out. Highly recommended! Joanna, Karen and Nicola."
